The global construction glass market is expected to reach $121.9 million in 2022, a 60 percent increase from 2015 when it was valued at $76 million.
Research and Markets published the forecast in February. The market research firm said that the adoption of construction glass products in residential and nonresidential sectors is contributing to the growth, which will only increase in coming years. Advanced products like solar control glass, self-cleaning glass, and noise reduction glass are examples of products that will be in greater demand as the global construction market responds more to the need for green buildings. Other factors include the growth of urbanization and industrialization and the increased speed of construction.
As reported in Glass Magazine, the market segment “special glass” was responsible for the greatest market share (69 percent) in 2015 due to the rapid growth of the construction industry, but it also has to do with increased government regulations related to energy efficiency. Potash-lead will have the highest growth rate through 2022 as its market value will increase to $8,045 million by 2022.
Globally, the demand for construction glass will be highest in the Asia-Pacific due to emerging growth in India, China, Indonesia, and remodeling projects in Japan, Australia, and Singapore.
