A+W Software was well represented at Cuba Glass 2016, the inaugural event dedicated to the glass industry held in December in Havana.
For the first time in that country, glass executives from all around the world gathered to explore the emerging glass market in Cuba. The Chamber of Commerce of Cuba helped host the conference in an effort to showcase the country’s regulatory framework and opportunities the Cuban government hopes to open for industry investment.
A+W Software was one of 33 companies participating from all around the world, particularly Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Spain, Turkey, and Venezuela.
A+W Software CEO Peter Dixen and Luis Javier Plá Benitez, who is responsible for the company’s Latin American division, were on hand at the two-day event. According to Pla, who gave a 35-minute presentation on Industry 4.0, Cuba remains a young market for the glass industry as the majority of product sold on the island is manufactured in Latin America. For the glass industry to fully take off in Cuba, relations between the country and the U.S. need to strengthen and internal regulations in Cuba needs to be developed further.
Cuba Glass is in the works for 2017, but a date is not yet set.
